Aurora History Museum

The Aurora History Museum in Aurora, Colorado presents a Native American artifact from Aurora, personal belongings of the community’s earliest settlers, as well as items related to local industry and business. This museum is supported by the Aurora Historical Society with the collaboration of the Town of Aurora and the Town Historian’s Office. This History Museum is located at 575 Oakwood Avenue just right outside the office of the Historian Aurora Municipal. It can be viewed any time the Museum is open to the public.

There are now new and special exhibits that will have a debut from time to time, everyone is invited in checking out another aspect of the community’s history. One of the most special exhibits in this museum is the Rix Jennings murals that chronologically tell the story of the history of Aurora which can be found in the main corridor outside the town offices of the Municipal Center. What to See at Aurora History Museum?

The Trolley Trailer No. 610 

The most famous attraction at the Aurora History Museum is the trolley car that has been the primary transportation of Aurora residents along Colfax Avenue way back early 1900s. Guests can now see the well-preserved trolley in the museum’s new 1,630 square foot Ruth Fountain Gallery.

The “Growing Home”

The trolley is only a part of a larger exhibit which is the “Growing Home.” This permanent exhibition is a visual representation of the story of Aurora with its countless photographs, historical objects, and artifacts. Walkthrough this exhibit and take a closer at the very impressive photographs that are on display.

Best Time to Visit the Aurora History Museum

Aurora History Museum is closed every Monday and during national holidays. The official open hours of the museum are from 9 am until 4 pm on Tuesdays until Friday and from 11 am until 4 pm on weekends. Admission shouldn’t be a worry because it is free of charge.
